Old Town is situated on a traditional drovers road known as the “Old Scotch Road”. Many tracks and bridleways on both sides of the Lune Valley fed this drovers road in the past taking farm stock south to the cities. Generally, these bridleways are still in good condition for locals and people who want to bring their own horse. We have good quality loose boxes and plenty of grazing plus hay and straw.
For the rider we can provide accommodation in a converted granary, which has on the ground floor a kitchen/dinning room, a shower room and toilet. A spiral staircase takes you up to the spacious lounge with outstanding views across the Lune Valley. There is a twin bed room and a large room with four single beds.
We also have 2 self-catering cottages.
Fleshbeck Cottage was built in 1717 and has 1 double room and 1 twin bedded with bathroom and shower inbetween. The lounge has many original features including: cast iron range and oak beams. Through the dining room into a newly apponted kitchen with fridge/freezer, electric cooker and washing machine etc. Ample garden and parking.
The Old Stables was built in 1746 and has an ensuite twinbedded room, 1 double, 1 twin and a bathroom with shower. Upstairs a spacious diningroom/lounge with open fire and oak beams. Fullyfitted kitchen with dishwasher etc and full underfloor central heating, garden and parking.
Prices:
Granary: S/C £35 per day B&B £40 per day. Includes horse livery, maps and guides.
Fleshbeck Cottage (4): £230-£420 per week plus £12 per horse per day.
Old Stables (6): £290-£550 per week plus £12 per horse per day.
S/C - Bunkhouse/Barn £20 - £40 per day £140 - £280 per week B&B £25 - £35 per day £175 - £225 per week. Prices include turnout for horse or box and bedding.
For the non-rider there are golf courses, fishing, cycling and walking.
